Tulbi Residence

This one-storey family house in Kiili, is a remarkable example of the use of wooden
materials both inside and out. The main construction of this house is based upon a
reinforced concrete slab foundation and is made of prefabricated wooden frame
elements which are mounted together to create a solid structure. The exterior walls
are mostly covered with dark-grey boarding. A colour accent is provided by ochreyellow
wood panels and opening frames. The roof is covered with polished-grey
rooftiles.

The house is oriented from east-to-west, with a large terrace and living room
facing to the south. In its 165m2, the house also features a kitchen, bedroom,
cabinets, sewing-room and a sauna. On the west-side, a little separated, there is a
technical room and a two car garage space. The building has good energy efficiency,
with less than 120 kWh/m²a needed for the building. The buildings heating system is
based on ground heating converted into an energy efficient underfloor water
heating system.
