Tower of Hiiumaa

This tall, wooden structure was designed for the island of Hiiumaa which is the
second largest island in the west of Estonia. The Hiiumaa Tower is located near the
coast and has been designed specifically for tourists, thrill-seekers and tower
enthusiasts. Hiiumaa is also considered a popular spot for migrating birds, and the
tower is the perfect place for bird watching.

The diagonal frame and cylindrical shape mainly supports itself, wires and
horizontal slabs help with stabilization. The structure is light, and the views from
the tower are superb.

Enthusiasts must be ready to take stairs though as the total height of the tower is
over 45 meters, which includes 8 viewing platforms. At night the tower is also
illuminated by projections which makes the tower clearly visible from a distance.
The illuminated structure creates effective, interesting shadows which bring out
the beauty of the tower as a whole.
